Born from Passion & driven by Creativity

Umhlaba Pottery was born from passion and desire to share creativity with others. Having made the decision to extend our studio offerings to include classes and workshops, the hunt for a new premises began and ended with an open warehouse space housed within one of Mossel Bay’s oldest buildings. This space was quickly transformed into a warm, inspiring space filled with creatives expressing themselves through clay.

The studio offers regular weekly classes, workshops, create-from-home products and a range of pottery items created within the studio.

The studio doors are open to anyone who has a desire to learn something new and reconnect with the joy that comes from creating.

Founder & Teacher

Vicky – Lyn Keet, owner and teacher at Umhlaba Pottery Studio discovered pottery while living in Durban where she briefly attended classes with Lynette Morris-Hale. After returning to Mossel Bay where she grew up, she attended classes in nearby George before setting out on her own in her home-based studio.

Her passion for sharing information and stimulating creativity is clearly visible in the way she presents her classes and interacts with her students. It is this passion that drives and motivates her to ignite a level of creativity in those who cross her path.

Umhlaba Pottry Studio | About

Creating with clay has a way of grounding my essence in a way that nothing else does. It is this feeling that I hope to share with you. The thrill of transferring the flutter in your heart into a raw item, the excitement of firing this piece and holding your breath to see what the kiln will return to you.
